Analysis, Research and Publications (ARP)

Introduction

 The Unit will play a key role in producing well researched analyses and generation of relevant and alternative transformative feminist knowledge and information which will be used to enrich processes for effective policy engagement, advocacy and capacity building by TGNP and its partners, including FemAct and IGNs in particular. This information will as well stimulate broad public/media engagement, and enhance dialogue and networking with transformative feminist analysis and activism.

 Main purpose:

“To enhance transformative feminist information, knowledge and analytical capacity for strengthening collective organising and movement building, public discourse and strategic policy engagement for social transformation at all levels”.

 Core outputs are:

  •  Strengthened strategies and systems for the growth of participatory action research and analysis on strategic transformative feminist issues for enhanced activism and positive policy changes and movement building, which are grounded at the grassroots level;

  • Analysis & research on strategic key issues, policies & budgets undertaken for informing coalition building and feminist movement building, including participatory action research with grassroots activists on key policy issues;
  • Enhanced production of popular & analytical publications for the purpose of informing the feminist movement's work at all levels;
  • Public engagement used strategically to communicate transformative feminist information and raise public debate through public fora and the media.

 ARP Activities

  •  Review current strategies for research and analysis within TGNP

  • Consolidate/ broadening strategies for utilisation of relevant research and analysis within TGNP, local level partners and beyond.
  • Develop systems, databases for enhanced research and analysis within TGNP, local level partners and beyond.
  • Develop joint research plans on key themes with FemAct, IGN, GDSS and other grassroots partners
  • Facilitate participatory Action Research jointly with local grassroots partners  for ALC's advocacy work on sexuality, reproductive and maternal health rights issues and other selected feminist issues
  • Manage research and analysis on key gender issues for enhanced organisational impact within TGNP, local level partners and beyond.
  • Link with ALC and other regional organisations (Africa and beyond) on selected strategic policies  and budgets for the purpose of informing advocacy and responsive lobbying  
  • Link and network with other partners at local, national, regional & international levels for ensuring support to joint advocacy research and analysis
  • Facilitate articulation, documentation and adaptation of conceptual framework and feminist participatory research and analysis within TGNP and its
  • Provide advisory services to activists, researchers and other TGNP partners
  • Prepare contents of policy-oriented Digests and budget review to reflect current campaign issues
  • Produce contents of popular booklets on strategic issues and disseminate popular publications and IEC material
  • Develop and/or take note of advocacy & dissemination strategies developed for each publication, in consultation with ALC, GTI and FIC
  • Write feature articles & press releases arising from analysis & research
  • Monitor use of each publication with ALC, GTI and FIC with support from M&E
  • Periodic review of public and media engagement strategies within TGNP, national, intermediary and grassroots partners
  • Update systems, databases for public and media engagement
  • Consolidate or broaden strategies for publicity or media engagement at local, national and beyond
  • Participate in organising GF Workshop to disseminate results for use in advocacy
  • Organise quarterly press conferences, TV and Radio talk shows on key issues and circulate press releases to print & electronic media 
  • Organise quarterly working sessions with media editors & top journalists on current feminist issues, with ALC, FemAct partners
  • Produce and disseminate popular publications, IEC material and media strategies
  • Facilitate monitoring media coverage of gender- and feminist-related news, including coverage of activities by TGNP, FemAct & other partners and support other programmes in media campaigns
