REGIONAL TRAINING ON GENDER AND MACRO ECONOMICS: POLICY, PLANNING AND BUDGETING

Key Objectives

Broadening capacities to carry out gender analysis among (senior level actors actively

-involved in macro and micro) policy, planning and budgeting processes within Eastern and Southern Africa sub regions as they have a key role to play in promoting gender responsive change through policy and related processes

- Applying and monitoring the gender class and nature of macro economic analysis in economic policy framework and budgeting at the levels of  (government/local) 

-  Sharing information and experiences on innovative budget initiatives in the region as such women’s budgets and gender budget is of paramount important to the well being of their nations.

   
Course outputs

     At the end of the course  the participant will:                

-    have enhanced conceptual clarity on the key gender concepts in macro economic policy , planning and budgeting

-    Be able to explain the relevance of macro level policy and budgeting  processes , the politics  involved in strengthening the gender sensitive  macro economic policy, planning and budget formulation and management

-    Have strengthened their skills in analyzing , applying and monitoring the policies formulated and their outcomes , including development plans and budgets  with a gender perspective.

   
Eligibility

The workshop is open to:

    -Senior level policy makers and programme managers from public institutions, NGOs, MEDIA and other institutions that are actively involved in development/ implementing and monitoring policies within Eastern and Southern Africa sub regions

   -Members of Parliament, local government officials, councilors, technocrats including macro economists, planners, budgets officers in various government sectors;

   -Key officials responsible with mainstreaming of gender equality and economic justice as well as academics and researchers on economics and social issues

    - Gender trainers who have a strong commitment to training on gender and macro economic issues

  -Human Rights and feminist activists and advocate working in environment sustainable development, food security, health, education, pastoralist, disability, child rights and other areas.  

   
Qualifications

To ensure maximum benefit from the course, participants are expected to possess any or all of the following basic qualifications:

-Education level of a Bachelors Degree or an Advanced Diploma

-Working experience in the areas of Macro/ Micro Economic and development: Policy/ budget analysis and advocacy planning and policy and budgeting;

-Present engagement in policy making, planning and budgeting and/ or advocacy work and exposure to issues of globalization, macro economic policies and gender

-Good command of written and spoken English.

   
Administrative information

    The course fee for regional participants (Non- Tanzanians) is USD 2500 and TShs. 642,785/- for Tanzanian participants covering facilitation fees, training materials, local transport and field visit during training, meals between training, accommodation and modest allowance.

     The fee does not include return ticket/ transport to and from Dar es salaam from elsewhere in Tanzania or the region.

            Other facilities such as internet and library services will be provided for free
