Tanzania Gender Networking Programme (TGNP) is a non governmental organisation aimed at enhancing gender equality and equity, women’s empowerment, and social transformation at all levels through policy analysis and research, training, capacity building, information, lobbying and advocacy, coalition building and networking.

TGNP seeks to recruit suitable and qualified candidates for the vacant positions listed below. For all posts, we are looking for persons with: a) commitment to gender, women empowerment, social justice and human rights issues, b) commitment to team work and participatory approaches c) motivation with strong interpersonal relations.

           1.0       DIRECTOR OF PROGRAMMES:

 

Responsibilities: Providing overall leadership to TGNP’s three programming areas namely: Activism Lobbying and Coalition Building (ALC); Analysis, Research and Publications (ARP); and Information, Communication and Technological Services (ICTS). Accountable and  responsible for the provision of a high level conceptual and methodological leadership, based on transformative feminism and animation approaches, during all stages of the programmes design, planning, implementation and monitoring, as well as in human resource management, resource mobilisation, financial accountability and administration. As a member of the management team, advises ED and contributes to the overall conceptualisation, planning and monitoring at TGNP.

             

Qualifications and Experiences

·        Minimum of a Masters Degree in Social Sciences or equivalent majoring in policy analysis and research,

·        5 years of relevant working experience which includes working with NGO’s.

           

            Key Competencies

 

·        High level skills on  research , policy analysis & writing skills ;

·        Programming skills, participatory project management and administration;

·         Financial literacy relating to budgeting and expenditure monitoring.

·        Animation, participatory facilitation and public-speaking;

·        Coaching/mentoring;

·        Computer proficiency in MS Word, Power Point, Excel, Access, E-mail and Internet

 

      2.0 Programme Officer – COALITION building AND ACTIVISM

 

Responsibilities: Coordinate, implement and monitor coalition and linkage building activities of TGNP involving building strategic coalitions and partnership at local, regional and international levels. Facilitate the development/updating of systems and tools for the enhancement and documentation of coalition building processes and activities. Promote the building of a social movement, with the ultimate goal of promoting a strong CSO and a feminist transformation in the country and beyond. Represent and advocate TGNP’s position strategic fora.

 

     Qualifications and Experience:

  • Minimum of a First Degree ( Masters Degree will be an added value) in social sciences or equivalent with major in policy analysis and research
  • As least 1- 2 years of relevant work experience including engagement with NGO work in advocacy, lobbying, coalition building and networking.

 

      Key Competencies

  • Strong gender and women empowerment advocacy skills including coalition building and collective  organising
  • Excellent writing and communication skills
  • Strong analytical ,  public speaking and presentation ability;
  • Coaching/mentoring ability
  • Strong interpersonal, organising and networking skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Word, Power Point, Excel, Access, E-mail and Internet packages;
  • Fluent spoken and written communication in Kiswahili and English.

 

 

         3.0              Programme Officer - Monitoring and EvaluatioN (M&E)

 

Responsibilities: Oversees and facilitates the planning and formulation of programmes/projects; proposals writing, fundraising and resource mobilisation, implementation, monitoring/ evaluation and reporting. Develops, improves and documents results based monitoring and evaluation systems, procedures, processes, tools within the organisation including strategic programme framework. Provides methodological and technical support to Monitoring and Evaluation activities for the organization including the coordination of advisory services.

 

Qualifications and experience:-

Masters degree in Social Sciences, with specific focus on planning (programming) applied research methods and evaluation, including formal training in project management (M&E). Working experiences of at least 3 years of work in similar position. Exposure and experience to the management of consultancy activities and assignments.

 

Key Competencies:

·        Excellent knowledge in planning including logical framework based planning and evaluation methodologies for projects/programmes.

·        Capacity in designing/ development of programmes, projects and implementing monitoring and evaluation systems.

·        Exposure and understanding of  participatory methods in programming M&E

·        Knowledge of statistics and database.

·        Good communications and writing skills, public speaking and presentation ability;

·        Knowledge of NGOs work and understanding of gender and development will be an added advantage

 

           4.0      PROGRAMME OFFICER - CAPACITY BUILDING AND TRAINING. 

 

Responsibilities: Overall responsible for the designing, planning, implementation and monitoring of training programme activities, outputs and impacts. Responsible for the coordination and delivery of quality gender training products and services, monitoring and impact evaluating. Develops and updates GTI curriculum, training manuals and materials, tools and methodologies for enhancing feminist, animation gender capacities of development actors at different levels within and outside the country. Responsible for identifying, developing, strengthening, expanding of the base of resource persons / trainers and facilitators. Responsible for the strengthening and developing linkages with clients, peer Gender Training Institutions and other strategic actors/institutions for the promotion of GTI activities.

 

Key Qualifications and experience:-

§         Minimum of a Masters Degree in social sciences or equivalent plus course work in training and management of training institutions

§         Training and facilitation experiences for minimum 2-3 years.

§         Experiences in working in training institutions, training processes and curriculum development.

§         Course work on  gender or women’s studies

§         Relevant experience of 3-5 years of working with gender and development issues.

§         Inter-personal relationships and marketing management

§         MS word, power point, excel and e-mail and internet

 

Key    Competencies

§         Capacity in training institutions management.

§         Capacity in curriculum development, training& manual  materials development

§         Gender analysis and training.

·        Good writing, public speaking and presentational skills

·        coaching/mentoring ability

·        Communication, spoken and written in Kiswahili and English.

5.0       ACCOUNTANT

 

Responsibilities: Overall responsible for smooth operations of the finance department and providing effective financial management systems and services for the organisation. Responsible for the preparation of all statutory financial statements, for management and external use including writing regular reports on revenue, expenditure and returns. The Accountant will ensure compliance with all applicable international accounting standards, donor rules and regulations and country laws. Responsible for overseeing internal control systems, accounting policies and procedures and the maintenance of all books of accounts and related records and ensure the application of sound management systems. Responsible with coordinating the preparation of budgets and monitoring of financial management systems. Develop and implement accurate cash management strategies

 

            Key Qualifications and Experience:-

Holders of advanced diploma in accountancy or other equivalent qualifications with a working experience of not less than 3 years

 

Key Competencies:

·        Capacity to develop and analyse financial reports on revenue, expenditure and returns  including accurate cash management strategies

·        Understanding of financial management systems including internal control systems, accounting policies and procedures

·        Capacity to prepare and oversee budgets expenditure in line with organisational plans and monitor financial management systems.

·        Team Work.
